WWT are seeking an exceptional scientist and/or healthcare professional to explore the relationship between people and wetlands and provide the evidence of the role played by wetlands to human health and wellbeing. We are looking for someone with experience of delivering successful projects with diverse partners and a passion for improving lives and creating more space for wetland wildlife.

You will be responsible for developing, managing and delivering a range of projects exploring the importance of wetlands to human health and wellbeing, taking the lead on project management and the production of funding applications. You will play an active role in establishing a suite of projects across WWT’s health and wellbeing workstreams, some of these projects are already in development, including a social prescribing scheme which will make use of WWT sites to support health improvement for people referred by their GP or via other routes. Other approaches would include working with WWT visitors, members and/or volunteers to develop projects measuring the long-term health impacts of regular wetland visits.

The postholder will also be tasked with exploring ways to translate any health benefits of wetlands into natural capital, helping us to promote wetland conservation to UK policy- and decision-makers. You will join the team at a relatively early stage in the development of these projects allowing creative scope for an exceptional scientist and/or healthcare professional to contribute new ideas that generate policy-relevant evidence for the health benefits of wetlands to people.

Good communication and project management skills are essential.

In return for your hard work and dedication you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service
- Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
- Life assurance
- Free parking
- Cycle to work scheme
- Free entry to all our centres
