WWT are a leading conservation organisation saving wetlands for wildlife and people across the world. Founded in 1946, WWT’s mission is to conserve, restore and create wetlands, save wetland wildlife, and inspire everyone to value the amazing things healthy wetlands achieve for people and nature. We work with global partners, local people, governments and businesses to take direct action to save wetlands and their wildlife.

Our Cambodia conservation team is looking for a Research Officer to help design and deliver research that will improve wetland site management and identify key sites for future conservation action.  This role will be a key component in an exciting conservation programme, with responsibility for planning, leading, coordinating, supervising and communicating all research-related activities.

You will need to be an enthusiastic researcher with experience in wetland conservation, ideally in SE Asia. The role will be responsible for the implementation of research at priority wetland sites within the Cambodian Lower Mekong Delta, including Anlung Pring (AP) and Boeung Prek Lapouv (BPL) Protected Landscapes, and will support the development of research plans.

You will have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in environmental or social sciences and have familiarity with biodiversity survey methods, habitat assessment and data management. You must be willing to spend a large proportion of time in the field, sometimes in challenging field conditions. Excellent communication is required, with an ability to work with local stakeholders, project partners and government officials. The successful applicant will be required to produce research reports and potentially scientific papers in English. A basic spoken Khmer would be beneficial but not essential.
