We are seeking a strategic and creative Major Donor Fundraiser to join WWT’s high performing and highly collaborative team.

Working closely with the Head of Philanthropy, you will refine and implement a strategy to raise income from high net worth individuals and grow this into a significant, reliable income stream for WWT – it’s a real opportunity for an experienced and ambitious fundraiser to make their mark.

The Major Donor Manager will be highly visible, external-facing, and will collaborate with senior staff and volunteers to develop compelling and strategic propositions, inspiring high net worth individuals to support WWT’s work in the UK and internationally. They will deliver the highest level of stewardship, ensuring existing supporters feel valued and connected to the charity.

We are looking for an experienced major donor fundraiser who is able to build relationships at the highest level. With outstanding networking, negotiation and communication skills. With a track record of personally securing six figure gifts through both written and face-to-face asks, you will also be comfortable coaching and supporting others to make financial asks. You will have a solid understanding of the requirements for a successful major donor fundraising programme, including experience of identifying, engaging and stewarding prospective high net worth supporters, and the ability to manage pipelines and cultivation cycles.

Experience with a conservation charity is preferred but not essential. A collaborative and proactive approach will be critical for success, as will the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to build effective working relationships across the organisation.

The world is facing a climate crisis, a nature crisis and an emerging wellbeing crisis. Wetlands offer a real solution, and as our new Major Donor Manager, you will play a vital role building relationships with and inspiring our most valued supporters to work with us to create, protect and restore these spaces.

The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is the UK’s leading wetlands conservation charity. We are pioneers in saving threatened wetland wildlife, a centre for excellence in conservation science and experts in wetland management and creation.  Around a million visitors a year engage with wetland nature at our ten centres around the UK, and we work nationally and internationally in key wetland areas to balance conservation with sustainable livelihoods.

We have recently completed a review of our strategic priorities which includes ambitious targets for developing bigger and better wetlands and encouraging more people to take direct action for these unique places.

In return for your hard work and dedication you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

-        25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (30 days after 5 years’ service) pro rata
-        Flexible working location / home working
-        Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
-        Life assurance
-        Free car parking and secure bike storage areas
-        Cycle to work scheme
-        Free entry to all our centres

Closing date:  1st August 2021

First Interview: 10th - 11th  August 2021

Second Interview: 20th August 2021

WWT is an equal opportunities employer and all applications will be considered solely on merit.
