The Grants Team makes a major contribution to raising the funds that help us tackle the most pressing conservation issues. Our work includes securing support for wildlife and community-focused conservation programmes in the UK and internationally, environmental education projects and the work that ensures that our wetland Centres and reserves offer all that they can for wildlife and people, raising in excess of £3mn pa. Grants form part of the Philanthropy department.

As a result of a promotion and expansion of the team to fulfil WWT’s growing ambitions, we are looking for a Grants Fundraiser to manage, build and broaden their own portfolio of grant funders, including relationship management, prospect development, leading on applications, compiling reports and complex claims. This is an exciting career development opportunity to maximise the potential of relationships with a wide range of UK and international grantors, including charitable trust, statutory, and lottery funders. The post holder will be the lead for the whole of Philanthropy on some projects, working closely with project delivery and other teams across WWT. The successful candidate will have considerable influence over developing projects to ensure they are aligned with our strategy and fundable.

We are looking for a career Fundraiser who is an innovative, resourceful, self-motivated, tenacious, well-organised and creative person with very strong communication and numerical skills. The successful candidate will have a track record of securing at least large five figure grants and be confident of influencing internal and external stakeholders at all levels and managing their own workload proactively.

The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a conservation charity that protects wetlands for wildlife and people. For 75 years we have been pioneers in saving threatened wetland wildlife across the globe and are experts in wetland management and creation. Our work focuses on tackling the most pressing conservation challenges including biodiversity loss and climate change. We work with communities living among some of the most vulnerable wetlands in the world, providing leadership and influence to create a sustainable future for our wetlands, their wildlife and the people who depend upon them. We believe that showing people first-hand how extraordinary wetlands are can ignite their passion to help us conserve them, so we provide amazing experiences at our unique UK wetland centres for over one million visitors every year.

In return for your hard work and dedication you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays plus bank holidays (increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service)
  • Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
  • Life assurance
  • Child care voucher scheme
  • Free entry to all our centres

Closing date:             1st November 2021

Interview date:          10th November 2021
