We are currently seeking a Head of Commercial who can drive forward our commercial ambitions. Operating at a strategic level, this is an amazing opportunity to steer the success of operations that generate a vital stream of income for our charity. These funds support our wetland conservation work and enable us to deliver initiatives that change lives and protect wetland habitats and wildlife.

Our visitor centres across the UK have a range of commercial activities including cafes, shops, retail, online/e-commerce, accommodation and experiences. The income from these areas enables us to invest in our sites and our conservation work, and whilst this income is important to us it’s not all about the money. We want to give our visitors the highest quality experiences, outstanding customer service, exemplary standards, and products that reflect our sustainability and ethical principles.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you’ll work on a national level setting direction and strategy for our trading operations. Critical to this will be the ability to accurately monitor performance and delivery across all our sites and work effectively with our Centre Managers and Trading teams to maximise performance.  You will need to be able to work effectively across a matrix management structure, supporting and motivating teams to ensure the best possible outcomes.

You will have substantial experience in the management of trading activities and of working within a visitor attraction or similar operation. You will have entrepreneurial flair being able to identify and assess current and new commercial opportunities and develop propositions that support our ambitions. This role will require regular travel to our visitor centres across the UK.

If you are committed to delivering exemplary customer service and relish the challenge of working collaboratively to drive performance and income then we would love to hear from you.

In return for your hard work and dedication you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

25 days annual leave plus bank holidays increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service
Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
Life assurance
Free car parking and secure bike storage areas
Cycle to work scheme
Free entry to all our centres

Closing date:  30th January 2022

Interview date: 9th February 2022

WWT is an equal opportunities employer and all applications will be considered solely on merit.

This location of this position is flexible, based at any of our Wetland Centres with the opportunity for hybrid working.
