Do you want to inspire the next generation of nature lovers?

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our learning team at Martin Mere Wetland Centre, a world-renowned nature reserve with a busy and popular schools programme. This includes delivering a wide range of curriculum linked sessions as well as the innovative new Generation Wild programme, which enables children from disadvantaged communities to connect with nature.

As part of the team, you will assist with the preparation, delivery and monitoring of guided learning sessions for primary school groups (KS1 and KS2). Other duties include taking and managing bookings, assisting with teacher pre-visits, helping to create and maintain educational props, equipment and habitats and carrying out simple maintenance tasks within habitat areas used for learning activities.

You will need to have experience of working with primary age children in a school setting and experience of environmental education. Some administrative experience would also be an advantage.

Hours offered will vary according to scheduled school visits and can be between 4 to 7 hours a day with up to 4 days a week being available between March and July. Fewer hours will be available at other times of the year.

The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a conservation charity that protects wetlands for wildlife and people. We conserve, restore and create wetlands. We are pioneers in saving wetland wildlife, both in the UK and around the world. At our 10 UK sites around a million visitors a year engage with wetland nature. We work internationally in key global wetland areas, balancing conservation with sustainable livelihoods and influencing national and international conservation policies.

Please note that if you are applying for the above position you must be legally eligible to work in the UK and be able to provide documents at interview stage to confirm this.

To apply please submit a covering letter and CV to Chris Whitehead at chris.whitehead@wwt.org.uk or by post to Mr C Whitehead, WWT Martin Mere, Burscough, Ormskirk, Lancashire, L40 0TA.
